After our time in Netherlands was over, we decided to go to Spain! We weren't originally planning on it, but we have the time to...and so why not? On our route down south, we passed through Luxembourg. Harmon and I actually did some extensive research on the places we visited before coming on this trip. Sadly, Luxembourg was not one of those places. I checked my Triposo app for a few pointers and we set out to explore Luxembourg City.
Notre Dame cathedral
Absolutely beautiful stained glass interior! This crappy iPod picture doesn't do it justice at all!
At the Bock fortress overlooking the valley below. You can see the fortress on the left and Neumunster Abbey on the right.
The valley below... Just beautiful! There is Neumunster again.
The old part of town was so fun to walk through! I especially liked all of the umbrellas providing shade on a toasty summer day.
World War II memorial
The top of the memorial is now a symbol of Luxembourg.
The Viaduct Bridge
And from here it was on to Spain! We would wake up in Perpignan, and from there take a high speed train to Madrid.
Night train. Party! We may have needed to move rooms after a man and his dog came to sleep on the bunk above Harmon....
Happily in a cot for the night!
Traveling Wisdom:
It is fun to wander in an unknown and sometimes overlooked town or country.
Luxembourg has the absolute BEST sledding hill...one that I think may actually cause riders to exceed the safe speed and enter into warp speed.
